It was a great weekend with blue skies overhead at
Skydive Pennridge. The weekend started early as the staff and pilots
were busy Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday. |
|
Friday was a full day as locals Betsy Tomlinson and
James Rolley finally got to make their first jumps. They had been
very patient as their first jumps were postponed due to inclement
weather. They greatly enjoyed themselves and are already signed
up for their second jumps. Shawnna Brooks also enjoyed her first
freefall. Her son and boyfriend watched with excitement as she completed
her tandem jump. It will be a few years before her son Shaun will
be eligible to jump, and it seems her boyfriend might need some
convincing before he goes for his first jump. David Kramar came
out Friday to do his IAF III jump. He is so excited to move on to
independent freefall as well as canopy control. The sunset jump
Friday was fun as Neil Fosbenner went up for his first tandem. He
is a good friend of our favorite local family, the McVaughs, so
we were glad to see him have a great time. The McVaughs were onsite
to cheer Neil on. Later Friday afternoon Aaron's friend Brain North
arrived. He is always welcomed and is helpful on the weekends as
he walks tandem students through the waiver and also helps catch
the tandem canopies as they land.

Saturday was a crazy day as it was Aviation Awareness
Day at Pennridge Airport. There were planes and helicopters flying
all day, and spectators were surprised and excited to be able to
watch the skydivers as well. Joanne Reynolds, our oldest tandem
jumper at Skydive Pennridge to date, had a wonderful experience.
Joanne is 70 years old, and says she's been waiting her whole life
to do a skydive. Her family was out to watch her, and they say they
will wait until they are 70 to do their first jump as well. We will
keep our eyes open as Joanne's story is set to run in a couple of
the local newspapers. |

The sunset load Saturday was the first jump for another
Joanne. Joanne Drake waited patiently for her first jump. All the
anticipation was well worth it, as she finally got to enjoy her
birthday present from her daughter. She loved her jump and is planning
on coming back soon. She was one of the most pleasant and animated
tandem students we have had. Thanks Joanne!

Sunday was a beautiful day. We kept our pilot Mike
busy. His family came out to watch the jumpers and also to spend
some time with him on Father's Day. Our Chezk friends Vlad and Lenka
came out again Sunday and worked towards Lenka's A-license. Lenka
stuck around after jumping to practice her packing. She caught on
quickly and is on her way to having her A-license completed. Way
to go Lenka! Laura was able to sneak away from her packing and manifest
duties to fit in her 300th jump later Sunday afternoon. It was a
fun jump, and she is looking forward to many more. It was a great
weekend, and we hope the weather holds out for the coming weeks.
Thanks to all the tandem students and fun jumpers for all your support!
